Victor Kwesi Mensah (born June 6, 1993), better known by his stage name Vic Mensa, is a Ghanaian hip hop and Grammy-nominated rapper born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. Vic Mensa was born in Chicago, Illinois to a father from Ghana and a Caucasian mother. His mother, Betsy Mensah, works in the Chicago Public Schools system, and father, Edward Mensah, an economics professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago
He is currently signed to Roc Nation and was a member of the group Kids These Days, which broke up in May 2013. He released his first solo mixtape Innanetape. Mensa is also founder of the hip-hop collective Savemoney which includes frequent collaborator Chance the Rapper. His debut single "Down on My Luck" was released in June 2014 by Virgin EMI.
In 2015, Vic Mensa came to Ghana for the first time for his Grandma's funeral which he had to cancel a show for.
